Final is set
The battle for the Plaunte Memorial Trophy will be a repeat affair as the Sault Ste. Marie Steelers and Tri City Outlaws will duke it out for the third consecutive year.
The Outlaws advanced by scoring three touchdowns in the 4th quarter enroute to a 31-13 win over the pesky Toronto Maddogs in Kitchener. The Steelers had a much easier time as they romped 59-0 over the Milton Marauders.
While this is the third consecutive title tilt meeting for the two clubs, the Steelers will be hosting a finals game for the first time since 1977! That season saw the Steelers host Sudbury as part of the two game total point final which saw the Spartans prevail 85-18. In 2007, the Steelers downed Tri City 23-10 while last season, the Outlaws turned the tables 21-10. In their lone regular season meeting, in the Sault, the Steelers won 20-10 on June 13th.
Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. on August 22nd at Rocky DiPietro Field in the Sault. The winner will also advance to play in the C.M.F.L. Final in the Sault on September 19th.
