Tri-City Outlaws @ Sarnia Imperials

Game Summary

The Sarnia Imperials outlasted the Tri-City Outlaws who spent much of the last couple of seasons rebuilding their squad. Despite the loss the Outlaws were in a position to win it in the fourth quarter. Having scored 30 points in the loss, is a promising sign for this season. At the same time the home team showed they still have the ability and player base to put up some good scores and this 35 – 30 win was an exciting down to the wire, nail biting semi-pro level game for the Sarnia fans in attendance.

Steel City Patriots @ Ottawa Invaders

In Ottawa, the visiting Steel City Patriots from Hamilton stayed with the powerful Ottawa Invaders with strong defense and pulling out some scoring drives. The Invaders were able to pull out the win on the strength of a very long play from scrimmage on a breakdown in the Patriot defense. In this game, one play made the difference, but both teams put on a terrific show for the fans in Ottawa.

Oakville Longhorns @ GTA All Stars

Game Summary

The NFC defending Champions hosted the Oakville Longhorns who despite finishing low in the standings in 2015 showed tremendous improvements across the board on this 2016 squad. Although it’s still early for the Longhorn players the fans can tell they are excited about playing football.  They showed it Saturday by keeping the game relatively close against the defending Champions until later in the second half. Great first game performance for the up and coming Oakville Longhorns… their attitude and work will pay off as the season progresses.

The GTA All Stars talented group of players were able to make plays at opportunistic times in the game to work through the week one timing issues. Their quick passing ways of the past remain an important part of their 2016 offense and it continued to be successful for them. With the help of their defense, still a hard hitting and attacking squad, the offense generally benefitted from good field position
